Makeup World Pucker Up Matte Lipstick Review and Swatches

Makeup World Matte Lipstick Review

Did I actually attend a beauty event while wedding planning? Uh huh. Yes, I did. I kinda promised myself I'd lay low this 2017 because I feel guilty whenever I'm thinking about makeup products instead of my wedding day... BUT when I heard of Makeup World, I was like... nope, I've got to see this for myself.

You can watch the Makeup World Philippines beauty event here.

Makeup World Pucker Up Matte Lipstick Review
I saw this brand sometime last December in Metro Department Store ATC. The moment I saw the price, I was like "Why is this so affordable?" It felt a little sketchy. I snubbed it for a little while, but then I finally gave in to temptation (because you know, makeup addict) and bought only two items. I bought the blush in tangerine and the lipstick in Cairo.

So... Have you heard of persons who buy stuff and then just put them on top of tables or a corner somewhere... products still inside the packaging or paper bags... and then won't open them until it's actually time to use them? Well, that's me.

It's July now and I've actually forgotten that I bought these two items from Makeup World until I got an invite. Thank you so much because I've finally gotten to wearing these lippies!

Packaging looks high-end. The theme seems to be black-gold ( white just like my alma mater UST... Lol. No, just black and gold) and the lipstick actually has a close-click-feel which is a must have for me. I mean don't you want to hear that clicking sound? It's like a security blanket for me and my lipsticks... knowing that the cap won't come off inside my makeup bag. Like who wants to use ruined lipstick!?

When it comes to their texture and pigmentation, I find that Dublin and Cairo are wayy different. I'm not sure if it's because they changed their formula... since Dublin is new and I bought Cairo 7 months ago. Dublin seems to be a little similar to NYX round lipsticks. You get that thin smooth feeling when it comes to application. A little sheer, but very buildable. Easy breezy. No tugging needed. Cairo on the other hand applies like Wet N Wild matte lipsticks. Super pigmented and creamy. One swipe is all you need to get full color.

As expected with matte lipsticks, you'll definitely see dry patches on your lips, and that's what I noticed with Cairo BUT not with Dublin. Also, I did not find these two lipsticks to be drying at all. Dublin, being a little sheer, lasted about 4 hours on my lips (with breakfast, drinking coffee etc) and it faded very gracefully. It's really a MLBB lipstick for me. Cairo's longevity was beyond my expectations. I wore Cairo at 6:43 am. I had my sandwich, coffee, hardboiled egg, water... all the way to 11 am and Cairo was still going strong! It really exceeded my expectations. The shade also reminds me very much of Colourpop Magic WandI think this could be a dupe!

I'm not really sure if they changed lipstick formulas. I got Dublin this July and Cairo last December. Dublin is extremely light and very comfortable to wear. Cairo's longevity is very similar to high end lipsticks -- yes, I'm talking about MAC. I like how they don't have any annoying scent and that they're packaged very sleek. These lipsticks truly exceeded my expectations. Long-wearing, true matte, not drying at all, and they don't feather outside the lip lines. And hey, did I mention that they're super affordable too? These lipsticks retail for only PHP 159 each.

Check out to search for their stores. If you're a southie like me, Alabang Town Center Metro Department Store is the way to go. I believe they're also available at Glamourbox and BeautyMNL.

Oh, and I've got a few more products to test out from Makeup World. I've got a concealer, a foundation, a powder, a blush, an eye liner, and the ultimate palette. Let me know what you want me to review first.
