Sleek Matte Me Ultra Smooth Matte Lip Cream

Sleek Matte Me Ultra Smooth Matte Lip Cream

If you've been watching YouTube videos for quite some time, I'm sure you've definitely heard of Sleek Makeup in the UK. Well guess what? They're actually here in the Philippines and they brought all their cult favorites with them. They brought their contour kits, their infamous eyeshadows, their gorgeous blushes, and of course, their Matte Me Ultra Smooth Matte Lip Creams.

Just this month, they released six new shades, and I have here with me Old Hollywood, Vino Tinto, and the always out of stock, Birthday Suit. Guess what I tried first? Of course it had to be Birthday Suit! I love MLBB colors and Birthday Suit was so perfect!

Time to review these Sleek Matte Me Ultra Smooth Matte Lip Creams!

I think I'm torn because I feel like they're two completely different formulas--the older shade and the new shades. So, I've decided to review the first batch, Birthday Suit, separately from the new shades.

Sleek Matte Me Ultra Smooth Matte Lip Cream

Birthday Suit is a classic wearable nude that can be teamed with Au Naturel i-Divine Palette on eyes for a chic everyday look.

First thing I noticed was that Birthday Suit sports a different doe foot applicator. The applicator reminds me so much of the L.A. Girl Matte Flat Finish Pigment Gloss (click here) since it's flatter and wider. The applicator is okay for me since it grabs product well and it's still able to create smooth and sharp lip lines.

As for the first batch of colors, the website's description is super spot on! It's all true! Birthday Suit glides very, very smooth on the lips. It's very pigmented too, so you don't really need a second coat. It's super comfortable on the lips all throughout the day, and it's actually moisturizing. Of course after meals, it would fade a little, but it never gave me a lip liner look because it fades very gracefully. This gorgeous nude-MLBB color is a need and now I know why it's always out of stock whenever I visit Sleek Makeup in SM Makati. I guess people hoard this color!

I promise you the shade Birthday Suit is a gift from the makeup gods and you need this color in your life! This shade is just a dream to wear. It's a color that can complement every skin tone and it's something you can dress up or dress down.

Old Hollywood is an oxblood red that looks stunning when teamed with gold shades from Vintage Romance i-Divine Palette.

There we go... I told you the new shades had a different and smaller doe foot applicator.

Old Hollywood is something you'd wear when you want to look powerful. Think Girl Boss, Diva, and Badass Bitch. This is a shade you'd want to wear when you want to look intimidating and you're all business. But this is also something you'd want to wear when you're out on a dinner date. Men can't resist red lips. It's scientifically proven that they're attracted to them :) So yes, this bluish-red shade on your lips will definitely be a scene stealer.

Vino Tinto is an intense deep berry that looks gorgeous teamed with Eau La La Liner in Noir on eyes for a sultry look.

Vinto Tinto looks brighter in the tube but once you open it, you'll be surprised to see a darker color.

If you like darks and purple lipsticks, I think you'd enjoy wearing Vino Tinto. This is a great lipstick to wear for a night out with friends since for sure you'd be tired of MLBBs, pinks and reds during the work days. For me, I think I'd wear it on weddings or other formal events. For sure a lot of women will opt for red during those events and I want to stand out by wearing a dark berry on the lips. This shade says that you're not afraid to take risks and wear darks, and that you're not just going with the flow.

Sleek Matte Me Ultra Smooth Matte Lip Cream Review
Okay, so regarding the formula, in my opinion it really has changed. What I've noticed is that the newer shades seem to be thinner and they dry faster! I loved the original formula and I could get away with just one coat. But as for the newer formula, since it's thinner, one coat seems like a stain (depending on the shade). You can build up the color but I suggest not too much because it will feel heavy if you apply 3 or 4 coats. Both formulas are quite pigmented and glide smoothly on the lips. You just gotta be fast in working with them. Also, don't puck your lips together while applying these lip creams. I found that since they're very quick to dry, applying them with a slightly open mouth and letting them dry that way ensures the color's evenness on the lips.

As for longevity, they last very long on the lips even with drinks and meals, but you still have to re-apply at the end of the day when you're about to go home from work or hit the club. Lol. These lip creams dry very powdery matte and they feel quite light on the lips but whenever I drink or get my lips wet, I could feel the dryness. It's weird... I think it's just me. Haha. I found that the best way to fix that was to apply lip balm first, blot a little with tissue, and then apply the Sleek Matte Me Ultra Smooth Matte Lip Cream. Oh, and do also note that you have to use an oil-based makeup remover when you remove these lippies. Click here to see what I use.

Overall thoughts, the Sleek Matte Me Ultra Smooth Matte Lip Creams really do glide on the lips. They dry very fast, powdery matte, and since they're pigmented, sometimes you don't actually need a second coating. It also claims to have a comfortable light texture which is true and it's very long-lasting. Will I get more? Yes. I'm eyeing Shabby Chic and Velvet Slipper. Those colors are my jam!

These retails for PHP 450 and are available at SM department stores in the country.
