MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour in Dance With Me

MAC Dance With Me

Today's post will be about one of my favorite products, the MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolor in Dance with Me. Of course, the battle of liquid lipsticks would be unfair if MAC didn't join in on the fun. So, they created their own line of matte liquid lipsticks and released 15 shades in one go.

MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour Review
MAC is known for their wide range of colors and the first time I saw the shades, I was like "Huh!? " The shade range of their retro matte liquid lipcoulor collection is quite disappointing. Out of 15, I think I'd consider 3 or 4 to wear. It has no nude that would compliment my skin tone and it doesn't really have a MLBB either. The shade range escalated quickly from pastel nudes to a pastel pink, to hot pinks, reds, and dark purples.

Let's talk about the packaging. It's either a you love it or you hate it type of feeling. You can look at it as a simple and timeless chubby lipstick or you can you look at it as a dorky chunky liquid lipstick with a recycled cap borrowed from their lipstick line. I look at it the second way. I think the packaging is boring. I think they could've put chrome somewhere or a black matte line wherever--I don't know--I'm just not a fan of the packaging. I think they could've done so much better, and I also think the cap looks like they just borrowed it from the lipstick line because they ran out of ideas. For the doe-foot applicator though, it's very soft and it looks like a petal that has two little pockets on the sides so it scoops up color quite well. Another thing to point, the stopper works very nice in limiting the product that would come out. Thumbs up for those.

Texture-wise, I'd say it's a creamy matte and it's kind of moisturizing too compared to other matte liquid lipsticks I've tried. So far, I'm loving the liquid-suede description and it works great with their applicator as well. It doesn't feather too much when I apply this on the lips and I can actually layer it equally since the product is very pigmented and buildable. It smells very nice, a little sweeter than the normal vanilla scent they sport, but it goes away after some time. It also doesn't feel heavy on the lips. In fact, it feels still quite light on my lips even when it's dried up. I also don't really see it flaking on me.

Longevity? This liquid lippie is a winner because it stains quite a bit but it's not hard to take off using my Etude House makeup remover (click here). It does however transfer to food/cups/utensils et cetera. I've tried eating burgers, pastas, pizzas and the like, but I still have lipstick at the end of the meal and I don't really need to reapply.

All in all, even though I'm not that fond of the packaging, this is one of my favorite liquid lipsticks because 1) the color is truly beautiful. It's described as a cranberry red... but for me, it's kind of a reddish-pink that has hints of purple. If you're a fan of MAC Rebel or Wet N Wild Sugar Plum Fairy, I think you'd love this color too. This can go from work day to nights out and even formal occasions. 2) This is one of my favorites because it doesn't feel heavy on the lips. It doesn't make it chappy and super dry. The color doesn't really feather outside my lip lines when eating/drinking and 3) it can last the whole office day--9 hours with eating/drinking--without needing reapplication. Yes, it will be quite faded but it still looks good at the end of the day.

P.S. I always get compliments whenever I wear this shade. I've also had a lot of officemates ask me what lipstick I'm wearing. I promise this shade is gorgeous! I got this from  @all_about_authentic for PHP 1,250 and they actually recommended me the shade.
