Pink Sugar Creamy Matte Lipstick in Hot Mess Review and Swatch

Pink Sugar Creamy Matte Lipstick in Hot Mess Review and Swatch

Did Pink Sugar, a makeup brand from the Philippines known for their colorful line of lipsticks, really released new shades of nudes, browns and MLBBs? Yup, they did. And I got first dibs for the Pink Sugar Creamy Matte Lipstick in Hot Mess.

What is a MLBB lipstick?

MLBB stands for My Lips But Better. For me, it's basically a lipstick that's almost the same shade of your lips, but it just makes it look ten times better. This shade varies depending on the color of your lips, so it's really kind of your own unique lipstick shade.

I'm a really big fan of MLBB lipsticks. I have... a lot. Haha. I have one I use for work. I have one I use for date night. I have one I use for family gatherings, a lunch out with friends, a no makeup makeup look... I have a LOT of MLBB lipsticks. For me, it's okay to have a lot of these shades. Why? Because I wear them more often than I wear red lipstick. I have MLBBs that are more moisturizing, I have a few that are matte... There's just something about MLBB shades that you can dress up or dress down. I love them.

Now, did Pink Sugar in the shade Hot Mess make the cut?

Pink Sugar Creamy Matte Lipstick in Hot Mess Review
This is actually my first lipstick from Pink Sugar and I didn't know what to expect. I've always wanted to try their Sugar Tints but I just saw the shades too colorful for me. But now, they released four new shades in their lipstick line and four new shades for their Sugar Tints. Guess I'll be back to check out more shades then! Haha.

The shade Hot Mess is described as a mauve pink. It looks like I'm not wearing anything on the lips, but I am. And just as I said, it looks ten times better because it evened out the colors of my lips. The shade's a little cooler than what I normally wear, but it still works, and I love how it looks on me.

So, my first impression when I wore this was it felt and smelled like my higher end lipsticks. It felt kind of bone-dry matte on my lips, but I'm used to that feeling and it doesn't really bother me.

For those who aren't used to matte lipsticks, you might want to exfoliate first and put lip balm... because this lipstick does cling to dry lines on your lips. For the matte lipstick lovers though, this is a true matte. No shine nor gloss, just a little creamy, a little moisturizing... a true matte lipstick that you might be looking for.

This can last up to 4 hours without eating, and you might need to reapply after your meals. If you got some of the darker shades from Pink Sugar, I heard they're more long-lasting and stains a little. I'm sure you're good to go without reapplication.

Overall thoughts? I love that Pink Sugar offers a LOT of shades and I love this MLBB color! Hot Mess is just perfect for an everyday wear. This felt like a high-end lipstick too. Close to MAC and definitely more moisturizing than NARS. The lipstick has a close-click-feel which assures me that the cap doesn't go anywhere. And last but not least, I love that the lipstick isn't too soft. It's summer here and other lipsticks would've already melted in your bags. This lipstick didn't even sweat in this heat. This deserves a thumbs up and I highly recommend you check out Pink Sugar's new shades. You just might find your own unique MLBB lipstick.

This retails for PHP 349 and is available at Watsons or SM department stores. For my southie girls, Pink Sugar is available in Southmall and Watsons in Festival Mall.
