Bedroom Makeover Under 5,000 Pesos

Robinsons Department Store Bedroom Makeover

Usually bedroom makeovers cost XXXXX. But in today's post, I'll let you know how I did it under PHP 5,000. Yes, believe it. All it takes is a trusty partner who knows how to paint, err-YouTube how-to videos, some extra effort because you're going to be doing all the labor, a long weekend, and some paint.

Here's what I bought at the Handyman hardware store in Festival Mall, Alabang:

Paint Scraper - PHP 170
Gloves - PHP 30 x 2 = PHP 60

Masking tapes = PHP 65 x 2 = PHP 130
Utility Hooks = PHP 60
Total cost: PHP 2,063

My favorite color is gray, so I always knew that I wanted white walls with some grey accents. I first computed how much paint I needed by Google-ing it online. You basically have to measure the size of your room, just type it in, and the site will compute how much paint you needed. It's quite accurate I must say.

We bought everything from Handyman, and started painting. It painstakingly took us a whole day to paint everything with two coats. Just wanted to thank my boyfriend for being such a good guy YouTube-ing how to paint, how to coat this and that, et cetera. Results were awesome.

Oh, and just like what the sales assistants inside the hardware store said, the paint that we used didn't have any scent at all. It was also water-based, so we didn't need to buy any paint thinner and that if we made a mistake, we could easily erase it and rub it off with water. I highly recommend it!

After letting the paint dry, I was able to move back in again the next day to my room. I assembled everything, my bed, my new curtains, re-arranging my tables, and this is how it looks...

I always buy my bedroom decors from Robinsons Department Store. Do you see those copper geometric candle holders? I think I got them last year or two years ago, and they're still standing strong. The smallest one is the most recent addition.

Medium Copper Geometric Candle Holder - PHP 150
Small Copper Geometric Candle Holder - PHP 99

I also bought my makeup organizers last December when Robinsons Department Store Alabang had their 50% off sale.

I believe I got this acrylic makeup storage for PHP 750. Lots of storage on top, and it has three drawers.

This cute rose gold vase retails for only PHP 130. I just got it two months ago.

I'm also fond of buying wall decorations from them. The two bigger ones are PHP 149 and I believe the Pineapple decor is PHP 99.

Now, this rose gold jewelry holder is something that I bought last year and I'm so happy I was able to get the last piece. I believe I bought this under PHP 500... Not sure if it's PHP 350 or PHP 250. But it's been long out of stock.

I wish I bought one more because I could totally use this for our wedding rings.

This two-drawer acrylic organizer is a little more affordable pricing at PHP 350.

And on to the right side, I have another acrylic organizer from National Book Store. I believe I bought this for PHP 1,000. The acrylic organizer on top of it retails for PHP 250 bought at Robinsons again. It has 9 lipstick slots and I just use the bottom to store my makeup brushes.

The picture frame with lipstick swatches is something I actually DIY-ed. I think it's about two years now. The blue scented candle is from Robinsons and the m&m's scented candle is a gift from my sister. The marble phone holder is also a gift from a friend.

This cool looking lantern retails for PHP 170 and I haven't decided if I'll put a real candle inside of it or a fake battery-operated one... or I can also put flowers... But I'm not sure yet, so I'm leaving it empty.

This Goodnight Maj lamp was DIY-ed by my fiance. He's an electrical engineer and I've been asking him to do one of these for the longest time. Good thing he was able to pull it off and made one for me on my birthday. I think it's about 3 or 4 years old now, but it's still going strong :)

Also, one of my investments for my room would be these curtains from Robinsons. Got them on sale for about PHP 400 each. The fabric is quite thick and this definitely shields any sunlight on days where I get up late. It ranks a 10/10 for me. A con though would be that it doesn't really let air circulate inside your room, so make sure that you buy a thinner piece of curtain if you're in a hot room.

Curtains got on sale - PHP 400 x 3 = PHP 1,200

Utility hooks = PHP 60
Curtain rods -- who knew these sticks were expensive? Got them for PHP 380 and PHP 199 at a shop near our house. If I only knew these were pricy, I would've never played with them as swords back in the day. Lol.

And now for my comfy bed...

The most expensive purchase for the bedroom makeover would be these white bed sheets. Because this is the deal breaker guys -- well actually, the white walls and the white bed sheets. I was actually looking for gray bed sheets but they were out of stock. Who knew gray bed sheets were difficult to find? I ended up with these soft white bed sheets for the amount of PHP 1,300. I love, love them.

Oh, and last but not the least, of course we need that clean new bedroom smell. This Linen Mist was something I just picked up from the cashier counter. This retails for PHP 249 and it smells very fresh. I love it. If I had the budget, I would totally get something like a diffuser with fresh bamboo. But I don't... so this is still a good buy!

If you ask me where I keep all my blogger mail and packages, they're all under my IKEA white table. Lol. I don't have a budget yet to buy new storage drawers or a cabinet, -- coz you know, I only have about 140 days before I get married. So they're basically all on the floor. I feel sorry for them... but, we gotta work with what we have.

Now, on to the summary of expenses:
Nippon Paint Matex - PHP 684 x 2 = PHP 1,368
Wall Putty - PHP 100
Paint Brush - PHP 30
Paint Brush - PHP 15
Paint Rollers - PHP 50
Small Paint Roller - PHP 80
Paint Scraper - PHP 170
Gloves - PHP 30 x 2 = PHP 60
Sandpaper  - PHP 30
Masking tapes - PHP 65 x 2 = PHP 130
Utility Hooks - PHP 60
Curtains - PHP 400 x 3 = PHP 1,200
Bedsheet - PHP 1,300
Linen mist - PHP 249

Total amount - PHP 4, 842.

I finally achieved the white bedroom peg that I have been wanting for the longest time!

If you want a more minimalistic room, I think you can get away with just the walls, the curtains and the bed sheet. I think those three are what you should focus on. If you watched my YouTube videos before (even though I'm not active on it) and Instagram stories, you'll have a better idea of what my room looked like before. As for now, I'm totally loving my white walls and if there was something that I'd change, it would be that I'd buy new storage drawers or cabinets for all my blogger mail. Got to keep those things organized right? :)

P.S. Half of my room isn't finished yet. Haha. I still have to paint the cabinet for my clothes and my extra dresser. Looking forward to another long weekend.

I hope I got the bedroom decor covered. If you have questions, let me know :)
