Benefit Cosmetics The POREfessional Primer Review

I put to the test one of the most popular primers in the world.

Benefit Cosmetics The POREfessional Primer
Quickly minimize the appearance of pores and fine lines for smoother-than-smooth skin! This priming phenomenon keeps makeup in place with a silky, lightweight formula. Wear it under makeup to create a smooth canvas or use throughout the day to mattify shine and touch up problem areas.

Lightweight, oil-free formula.
Enriched with Vitamin E to protect skin from free radicals.
Invisible finish for all skin tones.

Left: Bare skin
Right: With Benefit The POREfessional Primer

My skin on the right side might show up a little red and irritated, but that's just because I scratched it a ton before applying the POREfessional on top. Plus, the redness you see is normal since I still have red scars on my face due to my acne-allergy last year.

This makeup primer is so wildly popular that you don't even need to say Benefit Cosmetics just to pertain to it. POREfessional kind of made its own name just like Madonna or Twiggy.

I assure you, the skin blurring is real. Not only does it control oil and mattify your face, but it also minimizes the appearance of pores and fine lines on your skin. Can you believe that the before/after photo was just taken five seconds apart? In a matter of seconds, the POREfessional primer was able to minimize my pores and create a super smooth canvas on my skin ready for foundation. It doesn't feel heavy, it smells a little lemon-y, and it makes my makeup last longer in this humid weather.

I actually wrote a post about two years ago. I switched primers, and now I'm back to using Benefit's the POREfessional again. I even updated the before/after picture and amazingly, this primer still works wonders on my skin. Two years ago, I said that this is worth the hype... and now, I still haven't changed my mind.

The full-sized primer is a little expensive here in our market costing about PHP 1,800. If you want smaller versions like this one, you can buy it at Benefit stores and Sephora PH. You can also get a mini from their sets. The nearest Benefit Cosmetics Stores to Southies like me are ATC and Rustans Makati.

I know Benefit launched a whole bunch of makeup last year. Heck, they even have like 13 products just for brows. I haven't tried most of them yet, but if you have, do let me know what's good.

  1. I'm happy to know that it lives up to expectations! I've been reading really good reviews about that primer for a while but I just can't bring my self to buy it yet, since I still have primers to finish. Maybe when I run out of primers in my stash, I'll surely check it out. Happy New Year!

    1. haha i know about the primer finishing issues. i still have a lot too :) and until now, meron pading laman itong 3ml benefit sample. seems very matipid for the price!

  2. Absolutely love this product! I use it daily and it does just what it is supposed to! I wear it under my foundation when I go full face and I wear it under a dusting of Ellana mineral powder on lighter days. It really gives me a smooth look! This is also a good investment for me since it's pricey.

    1. yup. as in investment! and it's super tipid. i really dont need a lot of primer to smooth out areas :)

  3. i purchased the sample of this a while ago. at first i was like ehh..but in time, i grew to love it :) i loooooove the way it feels on my face! it makes my face so smooth and soft. i love it!! I haven't repurchased the full size just yet. i am itching to try the Maybelline Baby Skin primer. :)

glad you liked it! benefit is one of my high end faves. i'd be sad to hear it was a flop

    1. have you tried the baby skin? i'm not really a fan. they said it's a dupe for smashbox but naahhh...

  4. It did a great job minimizing your pores :)
