Maybelline Powder Matte Lipstick in Touch of Nude and Plum Perfection Review and Swatches

So, did you hear Maybelline just released their most lightweight lipstick in town?

Today on the blog, I'll be reviewing two of the newest Maybelline Powder Matte lipsticks namely Touch of Nude and Plum Perfection

Maybelline Powder Matte Lipstick
Maybelline New York’s most lightweight matte lipstick with a silky smooth powdery finish. Available in 15 matte shades that are perfect for Filipino skin tones.

Maybelline Powder Matte Lipstick in Plum Perfection
I asked the SA what were the most popular shades next to Touch of Nude and Mauve it up. Plum Perfection came in third. When I first swatched this in the store, it looked more burnt-brown-red, so I was wondering like okay, why is this named plum? I'm usually not the type of person who tries on the newest lipstick they have the minute they get home... but with this one, I became that person. I just got really curious on what it looked like. Upon trying it on my lips, it looked more of a brown-red with a hint of plum. I know this lipstick looks very dark, but it's actually sheer and can be layered for a darker color.

Maybelline Powder Matte Lipstick in Touch of Nude
This was a shade I was really aiming to get. I love MLBBs and I knew I had to have this just because of the name. I love my Maybelline Creamy Matte in Clay Crush and Nude Nuance, and Touch of Nude has become third in line. It doesn't really have a pinkish tone which are "the usuals" for MLBBs, I see this as more nude-light brown-mauve than pink. It's very neutral and looks very natural on the lips. It's perfect for everyday use.

As promised, here's a selfie wearing Maybelline Touch of Nude. It was a busy day for me last Sunday. I went to the cemetery to visit my mom, and then straight to SM Megamall for the bridal fair. Don't get me started on the bridal fair. Those fairs are crazy AF and super overwhelming.

MOTD: Base would be L'Oreal True Match and Etude House Cotton Fit used as concealer; Brows: Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade; Contour: Sooper Beaute's contour kit; Blush: Benefit Coralista; Lips: Maybelline Touch of Nude; Hair: Glam Works Hair Dye in Burgundy.

Review
It's described currently as the most lightweight lipstick from Maybelline which I agree with. I mean, I definitely felt a difference upon comparing it with Maybelline's other matte lipsticks right now. Packaging-wise, it's the same with their matte lines. I like how it has a click-close feel, and that I can easily distinguish which is which because of the matte-colored caps.

Again, with the barely-there feeling when you're wearing it, these lipsticks apply just like butter on the lips. It's very smooth and it just glides on and on. I find Touch of Nude more pigmented than Plum Perfection which is a little odd considering Plum Perfection is a darker color.., but hey that's kind of good news for people who love pigmented nude lipsticks right? As shown on the swatches above, two layers on the left and one layer on the right. I've been testing out these lipsticks and I find that Plum Perfection doesn't apply as evenly compared to Touch of Nude. Somehow it appears as if it's not covering the inner part of my lips. I don't know why, but I think it's just me.

In terms of how long it stays on my lips while having meals, I would say about three to four hours. Plum Perfection stains a little bit and Touch of Nude says au revoir whenever I'm done with my breakfast. For me, the Maybelline Creamy Matte Lipsticks are more longlasting compared to these two.

Overall thoughts? Well, at first, I thought Touch of Nude was being the big winner here, but it kind of lost the race when it came to meal time. It didn't really stain compared to Plum Perfection -- but hey, this lipstick line didn't really claim to be longlasting right? It's really described as the most lightweight matte lipstick that they have right now... which is 100% true for me. I really felt like I wasn't wearing any lipstick. It just glided on my lips during application and it felt silky powdery matte when worn. My lips didn't really feel dry while I was wearing these two, but I noticed that it did accentuate fine lines.

If you like matte-looking lips but don't appreciate creamy-mattes or the uber dry matte lipsticks, these Maybelline Powder Matte lipsticks are for you. Matte, feels barely there, and not drying. This retails for PHP 299 in stores, but I bought it on sale for only PHP 199 last week.

If I would be adding another shade, I'd pick Mauve it up or Nude Illusion.
